The New York band (Brooklyn for accuracy) of Eytan and The Embassy is a recent discovery for me. I listened to “Weekend Warrior”, a piece of powerful funky beat that’s perfect for me as a fan of bands like Fitz and The Tantrums or Foster The People and I immediately fell in love with them. The Eytan and The Embassy is not yet so famous (at least here) and still belong to the circuit of the so-called alternative rock, although in reality, they have already received several acclaim in the U.S.A. and their songs have already been used for several commercials and TV series such as “Vampire’s diaries”.
The band is not new to original videoclips and their productions are infused with a freshness and a lightheartedness that is hard to find anywhere else lately… they remember me LCD Soundsystem in they early days. The lyrics talks about you have to take yourself not too seriously if it happens to you to suddenly become famous on youtube when in fact you are not a professional musician, but you’re doing another job.
It’s not bad for a group that with their previous video (in which the singer is changing 18 clothes and imitate the most famous rock stars in music history) obtained official shares from celebrities such as Deadmau5, Neil Patrick Harris “Weird” Al Yankovic, Ryan Seacrest and OK Go.
Their next EP, according to statements of frontman Eytan Oren, will move away from the roots of the indie debut album to incorporate new elements such as traditional Chinese instruments and electronic sounds.
